Teeth whitening is a non-invasive procedure that removes stains from the teeth. Whitening can be achieved through teeth polishing or teeth bleaching. Teeth polishing is completed by our hygienist at the end of your cleaning and removes stains that have attached to the tooth’s outer surface. However, if stains have become incorporated into the tooth, teeth bleaching using a peroxide-based gel is necessary to remove or lighten these stains.
Teeth Whitening Methods
There are two main ways to achieve a whiter smile: in-office whitening and take-home whitening kits. Our in-office treatments provide safe and quick whitening results. The GLO™️ in-office system creates maximum results (in less than 1 hour!) with minimal side effects. Take-home kits provide a more gradual transformation, while maintaining the same minimal side effects.
Whitening is non-invasive, but can cause dentinal hypersensitivity in some patients. However, this sensitivity resolves quickly and does not damage the enamel or other tooth structures.

Who is a good candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Whitening works best on natural teeth, and often won’t lighten restorations like fillings, crowns, or bridge work. If you have severe sensitivity problems, we may recommend other treatment options than whitening. However, most patients who want whitening done can safely come in for treatment. Whitening results can last for months or even several years before you may want to consider re-treatment.
What happens during the Teeth Whitening process?
We offer at-home whitening options that allow you to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own bedroom or bathroom. We take impressions and use these to create custom-fitted trays. We then provide you with a whitening gel that is used in conjunction with these trays at home. You can keep the trays after treatment, and will come in for more whitening gel as needed. We additionally offer in-office whitening options for those wanting a quick and effective way to eliminate stains and deep discoloration. You will find that your results are much more significant than what you might get when using whitening products that you can purchase from a local drugstore.
If you are interested in whitening treatments, and want to learn more about this procedure, call us today and we can schedule a consultation appointment for you.
